Curatorial Notes
In this ensemble for the 2022 exhibition Lee Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse, Los Angeles-based artist Michael Schmidt synthesized Alexander McQueen’s fashion designs and the artworks displayed alongside them into a custom-made headpiece. This and other commissioned accessories serve as visual cues for each section’s thematic tone, while further illustrating the enduring cycle of inspiration linking McQueen to artists across time.
