Curatorial Notes
In this ensemble for the 2022 exhibition Lee Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse, Los Angeles-based artist Michael Schmidt synthesized Alexander McQueen’s fashion designs and the artworks displayed alongside them into a custom-made headpiece and shoes. This and other commissioned accessories serve as visual cues for each section’s thematic tone, while further illustrating the enduring cycle of inspiration linking McQueen to artists across time.
