Fashion ensemble displayed on a white headless mannequin: structured gray textured jacket with cap sleeves, zip front, and topstitched seam detailing, paired with fitted leggings featuring a vivid blue, pink, and white digital print suggestive of underwater or marine imagery.

Short-sleeved jacket displayed on a white mannequin torso, gray pebbled textile with allover small-dot texture, front zipper closure, curved topstitched seam details, and a small zip pocket at the hip.

Sculptural headpiece covered entirely in irregular fragments of iridescent mirror mosaic, displayed on a white mannequin wearing a textured gray garment; the double-lobed form catches light in shifting blues, greens, and pinks.

Curatorial Notes: In this ensemble for the 2022 exhibition Lee Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse, Los Angeles-based artist Michael Schmidt synthesized Alexander McQueen’s fashion designs and the artworks displayed alongside them into a custom-made headpiece and shoes. This and other commissioned accessories serve as visual cues for each section’s thematic tone, while further illustrating the enduring cycle of inspiration linking McQueen to artists across time.
