Karl Walser
Kriegszeit, no. 12 (11 November 1914)1914

Not on view
Print cover of 'Kriegszeit Künstlerflugblätter,' dated November 11, 1914, with a sketchy ink illustration of soldiers in helmets carrying rifles across a hilly, wooded battlefield
Black and white print with energetic crosshatched linework depicting a group of figures working on a wooden platform or pontoon bridge over water at night, several raising long poles overhead; German text caption below reads "Nächtliche Pionierarbeit."
Charcoal or lithograph drawing of two figures in heavy wraps and headscarves, each bent under large bundled loads on their backs, rendered with dense hatched linework. A caption in German script reads "An der Ostgrenze" at the bottom.
Print combining a loose charcoal or lithographic sketch at top and printed German text below. The sketch depicts a military supply column with horse-drawn wagons and mounted soldiers in motion, rendered in gestural black lines. Artist's name appears at lower left of the image. Gothic-script German text fills the lower half of the page.
