The Table of Cebes1592

Not on view
Large three-panel engraving depicting a crowded allegorical landscape with dozens of figures on a hillside below a cloud-ringed city, with a Latin inscription across the top arch
Engraving with elaborate allegorical composition across three registers: a heavenly realm with classical architecture in clouds at top, a rocky middle tier with robed figures gathered around a globe and ceremonial objects, and a crowded lower scene with figures in period dress including a standing nude male, winged figures, and a dense crowd. Latin inscription 'DOMICILIVM SALVTIS' arches across the top; columns of Latin text below.
Engraving with two registers: upper panel shows a reclining allegorical female figure holding a circular device with suspended figures, on clouds; lower panel depicts a crowded outdoor scene with multiple figures in Renaissance dress gathered around a domed temple and columned gateway in a landscape, with Latin text in a cartouche at bottom left.
Engraving in two registers: upper panel shows a winged skeletal figure holding a ring with a skull, flying above clouds; lower panel depicts a densely crowded scene with numerous figures near an arched gateway inscribed 'INFERNO,' a rocky hillside with processions behind, and a dark cavernous opening at right, with Latin text in four columns at the bottom.
