Benedetto Pistrucci
Waterloo Medallion(1784-1855)

Not on view
Large circular bronze medal with four overlapping portrait busts in profile at center, surrounded by a ring of low-relief figural and chariot scenes
Circular bronze relief plaquette with warm golden-brown patina. Central scene depicts armored and winged figures on horseback; a chariot drawn by rearing horses occupies the upper register. The border is densely populated with intertwined nude figures, serpents, and putti tumbling among clouds, rendered in high relief with fine classical detail.
