Bowl with Landscapelate Ming dynasty, about 1550-1644

Large blue-and-white ceramic bowl with wide flaring form, painted vine motif on exterior, and decorative paneled border along interior rim
Blue-and-white porcelain bowl with densely painted underglaze decoration. The central medallion depicts a Chinese landscape with pavilions, a bridge, rocky mountains, and water. Surrounding the medallion, a diaper-pattern ground is interspersed with shaped cartouches containing dragons, lotus flowers, and additional scenic vignettes. The cavetto and rim are bordered with scaled and foliate bands.
