Curatorial Notes
A leading enamelist, June Schwarcz embraced complex techniques to expand the formal possibilities of her medium. This bowl demonstrates her mastery of basse-taille (low cut), a process of layering translucent enamels over etched or engraved copper to create forms in glowing relief. Her explorations with copper led her to develop her own methods, manipulating copper foil and applying advanced electrical processes to create dynamic textured forms.
