Bernard Kester is a textile designer and ceramist who taught in the art department at UCLA from 1956 to 1993. His lively, vivid textile designs, such as Strand, often incorporated abstract patterns and biomorphic motifs. In his career as an exhibition designer, Kester was responsible for the California Design installations at the Pasadena Art Museum in 1968, 1971, and 1976. For more than forty-five years, he also designed exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
