Maurice Dumont
Pan 1, no. 1-2 (1895-1896)1895-1896

Not on view
Print with dense crosshatching showing an elderly woman in a white cap and apron, seated and preparing vegetables with a knife, a basket of leeks at her feet
Black and white print with dense figural illustrations framing two stanzas of German verse titled "Das Trinklied." Muscular nude and semi-clothed figures, including a wreathed male and reclining female, fill an arched upper vignette with swirling clouds. Flanking side panels depict additional figures in contorted poses, one elderly man seated in contemplation at right, a woman with head thrown back at lower left. Fine crosshatched linework throughout.
Black and white print depicting a dark silhouetted figure in billowing clothing, holding a staff, surrounded by swirling smoke-like forms with nude figures emerging from the turbulence; a skull appears at the bottom center, and a framed text block in German script occupies the upper right.
Woodcut portrait in stark black and white, bust-length figure with chin resting on raised hand, eyes downcast, long dark hair, wearing a dark coat with cravat. Bold contrast with fine incised lines in the background. Text below reads "A. SCHUMANN . FV" with printer's imprint "C. GRUMBACH, LEIPZIG."
Etching of a crowd of figures seated at outdoor tables beneath large trees, with a low building in the background; dense cross-hatched linework creates dramatic contrast between deep shadow and patches of bright light.
Black and white line drawing of a standing woman in a long gown with long hair, holding a flower in one outstretched hand and a basket at her side, surrounded by slender birch trees and small flowering plants along the ground.
Ink or etching landscape with loose, gestural linework; wide, flat plain stretches to a cluster of trees and low buildings at center, with distant mountains on the horizon and figures in the middle ground; signature at lower right.
Etching portrait of a figure in three-quarter view, heavily wrapped in a dark fur-trimmed cloak, face partially lit against a white ground, rendered with dense cross-hatching and energetic scratched lines.
Black and white engraving with fine crosshatching; a towering winged figure holding a blank canvas stands atop a pedestal inscribed 'DEM GROSSEN,' surrounded by small crouching figures below; at right, a column of German text headed 'DER RIESE / FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE.'
Black and white print depicting a steep snow-covered mountain ridge viewed from below, with a dark-clad figure roped to a vertical ice face at upper left; snowshoe prints and reversed text visible in the snow on the slope.
Black and white wood engraving of a man in shirtsleeves and suspenders, seated outdoors beneath trees, playing a violin with head bowed, rendered with fine cross-hatched lines.
Black and white print of a standing nude female figure adorned with a garland of flowers, holding a hand mirror, set among birch trees and foliage, enclosed in a decorative border with repeated floral and leaf motifs.
