Japanese hanging scroll, ink on silk, depicting plum branches with small buds, flying and perched birds, and a quail on the ground, with soft gray ink wash and gold brocade mounting
Ink work on aged paper with bold, sweeping diagonal brushstrokes in dark brown and black across a mottled beige ground, with red Chinese seal script characters and calligraphic text visible at center.
