Woman's Kimono, 'Kun-en (Fragrant Garden)'1968

Not on view
Japanese kimono displayed flat with extended sleeves, covered allover in a dense pattern of short curved gray and white strokes, with a narrow gold border at the sleeve and hem edges
Woodblock print detail showing diagonal white stripes over a dense black ground of small scattered motifs, with a rectangular red seal impression in Chinese or Japanese seal script at center.
Abstract composition in black and white, densely layered short parallel marks arranged in sweeping concentric arcs that spiral inward toward the lower right, creating a rhythmic, textile-like surface against a white background.
Abstract print with dense horizontal lines of fragmented black marks on white, curving in arcs that converge toward the upper center, creating a ribbed, textural surface.
