Trained as a chemist, Chaim Azriel Weizman (1874-1952) contributed significantly to the creation of the state of Israel and was the first president of the newly formed country, 1949-52.
Davidson modeled Weizman during his visit to Israel in 1951, the year before the president died. The surface treatment, particularly of Weizman’s wrinkled cheeks and breast, is exceptionally sketchy.
