Curatorial Notes
During the Greco-Roman period in Egypt, Isis was shown in a variety of forms. She may be identified as Isis in this small bronze by her plaited hairdo, and a simplified headdress formed of two upright feathers or plumes, forming the atef crown. The crown also contains a central element, possibly the remains of a solar disk with cow horns. When worn by Isis, the atef crown refers to her role as a protective goddess and symbol of fertility.
