- Curatorial Notes
This enigmatic greenstone carving features an anthropomorphic face with exaggerated features consistent with the depictions of some Classic Maya deities. Its back has been hollowed out, perhaps for attaching the object to a rod or affixing it to a headband for use as a diadem. Perforations through the back of the object indicate another potential use as a pendant or bead.
