Jeweler merry renk was a member of the vibrant Bay Area artistic community and active in the Metal Arts Guild, a regular gathering of Northern California metalsmiths. Her jewelry reflected the nonobjective forms and abstract shapes also explored by Margaret De Patta and other midcentury jewelers. Renk designed this hair band with folded facets to hold her hair in a bun and wore it regularly to exhibition openings and on special occasions.
