Ceramic covered jar with densely applied polychrome relief decoration depicting a multi-tiered scene with numerous small figures in traditional Chinese dress gathered around a pavilion with a tiled roof; upper register shows figures on a veranda, lower register shows figures in a garden setting; lid decorated with molded floral motifs in pink and yellow; border of blue cloud scrolls below the shoulder.
