Kenyan-born contemporary artist Magdalene Odundo draws inspiration from the hand-coiled pots made by women in many parts of the world, including Nigeria, which she visited as a young artist. The firing technologies she employs transform her creations beyond her own expectations, as "accidental" out comes occur in the kiln. Thus, her work pushes traditoinal boundaries of form and becomes the avant-garde.
