This representation of Lama Lodrö Wangchuk (born 1402) is identified by its dedicatory inscription on the reverse of the lotus base. He was the last abbot of the Chumig monastery. He is dressed in the traditional three-piece monk’s patchwork robe with elegant floral motifs incised on the borders of his robe. He sits in a relaxed posture with right knee lying on the pedestal and his left knee raised with his left hand resting on his knee. His right hand is held in the gesture of teaching (vitarka mudra). When the baseplate of the sculpture was removed, inside were textile fragments, a lapis lazuli bead, a small pearl, bundles of broken clay pieces, wood, bark, scrolls, bone, a ceramic cylinder, a votive plaque (tsha tsha) wrapped in colored silk, and several walnuts.
