Thomas Spencer (1815-1884) was a whaling captain from Warwick, Rhode Island. He opened a successful ship chandler business in Honolulu and later moved to Hilo, Hawai'i. He was also a supporter of the Hawaiian monarchy (source:The Friend, a local newspaper published 1843-1954 for 19th century congregational missionaries in Hawai'i)
