1795 born with the name Sentarō into a weaver's family. Adopted by Zengōrō X (Ryōzen) in 1806. He adopted the name Zengōrō XI in 1817 after marrying. In 1818 his wife gave birth to a daughter but then died. Between 1819 to 1822 was married to member of the Kimura family related to Raku and in 1823 gave birth to his first son, Zentarō, later Wazen. In 1825 Wazen's mother died, and Hōzen would never marry again. In 1827, Hōzen opened a kiln at the behest of the Kishū fief lord, Tokugawa Harutomi, who bestowed a silver "Eiraku" seal upon Hōzen. In 1843, Hōzen passed the Zengōrō name to Wazen and renamed himself Zen’ichirō. In 1848 he changed the pronunciation of 保全 (Hōzen) to Yasutake. In 1851, Yasutake moved to Lake Biwa and established South Lake pottery (湖南焼). From 1852 until his death in 1854 he worked with the Takatsuki fief lord, Nagai Naoteru, and established the Takatsuki Castle kiln. In the fourth month of 1854, Yasutake's house burned to the ground, and he passed away 5 months later.
