Born in Toyama Prefecture, 1978, to a famiy of potters in the Etchū-Seto manner. Graduated from Tokyo University of Art and Music in 2002, where he studied sculpture. He became interested in clay while at the university and decided to devote himself to that medium. In 2003 he received advanced training at the Kyoto Prefectural School for Ceramics Technology, then returned home to apprentice under his father.
