About this artist

Came to Japan in 1764, 1772, 1774 and 1780, and on the last trip his boat crashed and sank. All were saved. During his transfer to the capital, he was able to see and paint Mount Fuji, the painting later copied by Tani Bunchō. He taught several painters and had influence on Bunchō and Watanabe Kazan.
