This trunk and its mate M.2010.81.4 feature central cartouches with mirror-image phoenixes standing on a multicolored lotus. Six gilt and gesso dragons in foliage surround each cartouche. The central panel has cloud-form corner designs in gold. The floral border around the central panel continues on the front edge of the trunk lid. It has reinforcement metal fittings and a locking hasp with ornate cloud-form clasp plates.
