After World War II Charles and Ray Eames returned to their original goal of mass-producing molded-plywood furniture....
After World War II Charles and Ray Eames returned to their original goal of mass-producing molded-plywood furniture. The line featured rubber shock mounts that absorbed vibration and distributed stress, creating a very comfortable chair without the need for upholstery. DCWs were usually made of relatively inexpensive ash or birch—this chair’s exotic rosewood veneer makes it a rare iteration of a familiar form.
