Collectors Marjorie and Leonard Vernon began their long friendship with photographer Ansel Adams when they acquired his work Aspens Northern New Mexico from the art dealer Maggi Weston....
Collectors Marjorie and Leonard Vernon began their long friendship with photographer Ansel Adams when they acquired his work Aspens Northern New Mexico from the art dealer Maggi Weston. Weston wrote of the first meeting:

"I introduced them to Ansel and Virginia (Adams) and they became friends. They would come up to Carmel and we'd have parties. And I introduced them to Edward Weston and to Cole Weston. Len knew about his work. I introduced them to a depth of Edward."

"The Aspens was among four pieces that Ansel had asked me to personally sell for him. I told Len about the Aspens and there was a big Moonrise but they already had that a couple of Moonrises in fact. And so they knew it was coming from Ansel just very quietly."
