Collectors Marjorie and Leonard Vernon bought many Karl Struss Photographs like this one....
Collectors Marjorie and Leonard Vernon bought many Karl Struss Photographs like this one. Stephen White, collector, curator, and former proprietor of the Stephen White Gallery in Los Angeles, wrote of how the Vernons started collecting the work of this important photographer:

"I think the first time the Vernons really got involved with me and my gallery was a Karl Struss show. I represented Karl in the last five years of his life…Karl and Ethel, and they were kind of the hit of the evening and this was my first major coups in photography. This was 1977...Leonard and Majorie bought a number of prints, and from there we developed a friendship."

"Simultaneously in 1977 LACMA held a Struss photography exhibit–the in the lobby of the Bing Theater, because they were showing his films there, this was an adjunct. You could only view them when the theater was open. We–the photo community at the time–were furious, and I think the Vernons and others all wrote letters to the museum!"
