Abbot of Manpukuji temple, Obakusan. Born in Osaka with the surname Hoshino, art name Gaun, Buddhist name Kōshitsu. Received the Dharma Inheritance at Osaka Myōtokuji, where he studied both Buddhist and nono-Buddhist scriptures. He traveled to Shanghai, afterwards returning to live in Osaka at Keizuiji. In 1925 he became abbot of Manpukuji. He died in 1937 at age 71 (Japanese count) 黄檗山万福寺四十七代管長。大阪生。姓は星野、号は臥雲、法諱は広質。大阪妙徳寺の謙光について出家・嗣法した。内外典を学び、のち上海に渡った。帰国後大阪慶瑞寺に住し、大正14年(1925)万福寺管長となった。昭和12年(1937)寂、71才。
