Born Tokyo 1950. Graduated from Tamagawa Art Ceramics School and began study with Shimaoka Tatsuzo. Built his own kiln in Mashiko, where he has remained. First solo show 1978 at Keio Department store. Since then he has exhibited regularly in Japan and abroad. His works are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and many others.
