The remarkable simplicity of this bronze ewer draws attention to its elegantly balanced shape, mirrorlike surface, and minimal decoration: an engraved line at its mouth and the top of the body. Despite its seeming unpretentiousness, the ewer would have been considered a luxury object due to its high level of craftsmanship and its fabrication in metal, a costly material.
