Robert Frank frames a portion of a restaurant, empty of customers, with an image from the television frozen in time. The uneven tilt of the camera creates a sense of restlessness, as if the photographer could not stay long enough to frame this scene carefully. The fleeting subject of the photograph is in competition with the radiant natural light glaring upon the tabletop, which overwhelms the new, artificial radiance of the television screen.
