The chair was intended to be made by a new process called rotational molding, in which plastic is placed in a mold, heated, and rotated slowly so that the malleable material coats the surface and takes the shape of the mold. The prospective manufacturer was not happy with the results of the prototype and canceled the project. Chadwick subsequently created the same form out of fiberglass to show in the 1968 California Design exhibition, hoping to find a willing manufacturer. The chair never went into production, making this prototype unique.
