Born Hokkaido. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, Department of Painting in 1971, and completed Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School, Department of Painting in 1973. Studied with Tetsuro Komai and Tadayoshi Nakabayashi to hone his print skills. In 1975, he won the Grand Prix at the 6th Print Grand Prix Award, and has since been exhibited at print exhibitions in various locations.
