Born in Hokkaido. Attended Musashino Art College in Tokyo, graduating in 1958. He spent 1966 and 1967 in America, Mexico and Sao Paolo having his first solo show in the latter city. In 1972 he had solo exhibitions in Rio de Janiero, Buenos Aires and Australia. In 1973 he began working on silkscreen and lithography using oil pigments. In 1980 he garnered an award at the Norway International Print Biennial, and had a solo show in Oslo. In 1982, he had solo shows in Honolulu, Cleveland, Vancouver, Montreal and London. He died in 1998. Hi s work is in the collections of the Cleveland Modern Art Museum, the Cincinnati Modern Art Museum, the British Museum, the Honolulu Art Museum and the Queensland Museum of Art, in addition to LACMA.
