About this artist
Studied with Shijo painter Ki no Hironari in Kyoto. 1830, age 27, noted for first time in "Heian jinbutsu-shi". Switched to nanga style after Hironari's death in 1839. He took up Shijo style again working with Matsumura Keibun. In 1855 he painted door panels and fusuma-e for the restoration of the imperial palace in Kyoto. After the Meiji restoration, moved to Tokyo, but returned to Kyoto at the end of his life. His grave is in his hometown in Toyama Prefecture.
