Merritt: B. 1906 in Osaka. Grad. 1930 Kyoto Specialist School of Painting. Exhibited prints with Shun'yokai from 1932, Teiten from 1934. Member of Nihon Hanga Kyokai from 1938. Exhibited Japanese-style painting with Seiryusha from 1931; member from 1950. Series of Kyoto scenes, including Eight Snow Scenes of Kyoto published by Uchida, and a series of flower prints made with Tokuriki Tomikichiro and Kamei Tobei published by Unsodo. Associated with these two artists in Korokusha, a subsidiary of Tokuriki's publishing company which subsidized their sosaku-hanga." --'Guide to Modern Japanese Prints: 1900-1975' by H. Merritt and N.
