Nepthys: sister of Isis (Kite)

The funerary goddess Nepthys was closely associated with her sister, the goddess Isis. Although she was married to Seth, the god of chaos, mythological accounts always place her as a supporter of Osiris and Isis. Most commonly Nepthys appears with Isis, helping her to protect and assist Osiris. Due to her role as Isis’ partner in the protection of Osiris, Nepthys, along with Isis, was viewed as an important protective goddess of the dead.

Nepthys is typically shown as a woman in a sheath dress, often distinguished from Isis only by the hieroglyphs for her name on her head. Like Isis, Nepthys may also be depicted in fully avian form as a kite, or as a woman with winged arms.
