Mohammad Abou El-Naga (Egypt, b. 1960), received a PhD in the Philosophy of Art from Alexandria University in 1997 and has been exhibiting his work, primarily in Egypt, since 1984. He has a special interest in paper and paper products derived from Egyptian plants. He has said of his mixed media work, such as this untitled example from 2007, which incorporates the text from an Ottoman period stone inscription dated 1257/1841:

From water and Paper Pulp,
From Plant fibers,
From Papyrus, linen, cotton and cactus fiber
From iron rust, carbon and wood shavings
From sand, rock and oxides, and the dust of old curtains
From leftovers of belongings
From daydreams, intimates places and memories
As a result of my efforts and personal experience
