486th abbot of Daitokuji. Received his Zen certificate from Nakahara Nantenbō at Yamashiro Enpukuji.. He also practiced calligraphy and waka. Sōhan Genpō was a student of Nakahara Nantenbō, a reformist monk of the Rinzai sect.
